Sumatra
The Sumatra is a lustrous greenish-black bird with a graceful long tail, small comb, black shanks with yellow soles, can have multiple spurs, and like Silkies have black skin.
The Sumatra is a rare breed and is considered ‘Threatened’ by the Livestock Conservancy.
We have found they can make wonderful pets despite other information being out there.
They are excellent in the heat, but their cold tolerance is poor, and will need a draft free coop in the winter. They will lay a small - medium white egg. Males are about 5 lbs and females about 4 lbs. Though a smaller chicken, they do have larger breasts similar to a game bird.
